50 – 125cc bikes (often used by younger and inexperienced riders) are over represented in accident data. Larger bikes above 500cc are underrepresented
Bikes of 600cc and above have an increased chance of becoming involved in an accident on a bend. Those of 900cc and above have an increased risk of overtaking and filtering accident
Super-sport bikes are also overrepresented relative to sales.
Interestingly, riders with dirt bike experience are underrepresented in accident data. That same study showed that passenger-carrying motorcycles are not overrepresented in accidents.
A European study showed that modified conventional street motorcycles were over-represented in accident data.
